The Manufactured Newborn
Finally, what was left of Maxwell crumpled to the ground, and there above him was a creature of metal and machinery, assembled in a shape not unlike a human fetus, its small arms ending in two long knives. - Hidden in the Trees
One day, a small toy may appear in your home. It won't stay small, however: it will grow, adding mass to itself. Bits of metal and wire and flesh and bone. It will grow bigger and bigger until it can rip a hole in the universe and then it will join the rest of its body - the Tower that is the Newborn.
Sometimes, the Newborn will infect a person's body and turn them into Towerborn. For others, it will strip them of everything except their mind and turn them into Thoughtborn. Why it does this is unknown, though it seems to seek knowledge.
